Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad), April 30 : Anti-social elements belonging to AIYF – the student wing of CPI, have destroyed a Sarswathi statue and burnt down the images of Lokmanya Bala Gangadhar Tilak, Veer Savarkar and RSS founder Dr.Hedgewar removing it from a Hostel in Osmania University.
The incidents are being played down by the police. Hyderabad police told news persons that the incidents were result of the struggle between CPI’s student wing and the ABVP. However, the students say that the attack was unprovoked.
Various Hindu organisations have strongly denounced the vandalism of Communist anti-social elements. Some have warned of strong retaliation saying, “We sincerely hope CPI leadership will shed some good sense to their student comrades. If CPI student wing is planning to go ahead like this in response to each and every student scuffles in campuses the price they have to pay for this will be very high.”
Local student leaders even noted their unhappiness over the coverage of the incidence by some media sections which are trying to project the vandalism as a Dalit-ABVP clashes in campuses instead of naming the CPI and it’s student union AISF. The students noted, “Even while reporting this heinous crime the media tycoons want to split up Hindus!” Some allege that the attackers were related to local church.
